In our group, we all viewed existing trailers for Made in Chelsea and wrote down some of the main storylines.
I started my script by selecting the best storylines and looking at what would work together and also what we could film easily in Manchester.
Points I had to consider whilst drafting my script were:
Soap name: The Mancunian Way.
Points I had to consider whilst drafting my script were:
- Dialogue needs to be minimal and straight to the point
- Not to many characters involved so the storyline and audience don't get confused
- Only included relevant clips
- Have a feeling that you want the viewer to have once they have watched it
- Don't make it to long by dragging out the story - its only a trailer.
Soap name: The Mancunian Way.
Characters:
- Me - Sapphire
- Katie -
- Georgia - Penelope
- Max -
- Ste - Tarquin
These character names match those of Made in Chelsea's. They are posh, unique and 'on trend' much like the original Made in Chelsea.
As our soap name is called 'The Mancunian Way' the character names needed to be slightly more 'lower class' in order to relate to the Manchester lifestyle. Manchester is considered lower class, trashy and 'wag central' compared to the lifestyles in Chelsea, so in order to fit the stereotypes associated with Manchester, the names chosen are relatively 'trashy.'
Below is a copy of the script we followed when filming our shots, and the plan i will follow when editing my trailer.
